The second official excursion was to West Virginia. The trip took place in October 1998. What was thought to be planned, turned out to be unplanned and caused much chaos the first night of the two night trip.
The "plan" was to find a nice, quite camp site in Dolly Sods, a part of Monogahela National Forest, West Virginia. Upon arrival to Dolly Sods, there was nothing to be seen. The top of the mountain, where Dolly Sods was located, was bare, cold, foggy, and misty. It was like a scene from a horror movie. It was almost 8:00PM and it was dark already, being the fall. We drove around all over Monogahela National Forest looking for a campsite, with no luck. We resorted to renting a hotel, but all had no vacancy since it was squirrel hunting season. Finally, we found a trailer to rent. Of course, we were pretty nervous...come on, a trailer in West Virginia? We were expecting a nasty, beat up, smelly, and dirty trailer, but instead, received a nice, clean, and spacious one. How fortunate!
The next morning, we found a campsite near Senaca Rocks. It was quite nice.
